I was bawling my eyes out today in my room with a horrible card I received from my x!

Your article just HOOKed me back to happiness!

Your words that HOOKed me:
The truth is that remaining in any situation or relationship where one is verbally abusing you, whether or not you verbally abuse back, is to bite the hook of a self-defeating illusion that the verbal abuser loves you.

Your 3rd point also hit home with me, about having unresolved childhood issues, you've given me the reason to think clearer now about the connection I have with him.
